Asitava Sen is the Chief Executive Officer of CropLife India, an industry association of 16 R & D driven member crop science companies, jointly representing approximately 70% of crop protection market and responsible for 95% of the molecules introduced in India so far. CropLife India member companies have annual global R & D spend of 6 billion USD and are firmly committed to engaging
with the farming community to enable Safe, Secure Food Supply. CropLife India is part of the CropLife international network; and work closely with CropLife Asia & CropLife International, the global parent organizations spread across 91 countries.
Prior to CropLife India, Asitava had worked in leadership and senior advisory positions for various influential international and multinational organizations such as: The World Bank, International Finance Corporation (2030 Water Resources Group), The World Economic Forum, FAO, Rabobank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, APCO Worldwide, Nielsen Company, to name a few.
Asitava has about 30 years of experience, specializing in Agribusiness and Food, covering areas such as public policy and social sector advisory, managing large scale multi stakeholder participatory programs, innovative public private partnership initiatives and blended finance.
Asitava played an integral role in advising the Ministry of Agriculture, to recommend setting up a National Value System Platform as a public-private initiative in the Dalwai Committee report (2017) for doubling farmers’ income.
He is a Mechanical Engineer and an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur, India.
